Balam Gadi

Category Adventure, Natural / Scenic beauty

Situated on the Tropic of Cancer, this hill is apprx. 1350 feet high and offers a 180 degree view. Indian vultures can be seen flying in the open sky on this mountain range. Also, animals like bears, monkeys, deer, Nilgai, Kotri Sambhar etc. are also sometimes seen. The origin of Gopad and Hasdo Nahi from the top of this hill proves the natural belief on the basis of which it is believed that the top of this mountain range forms two river flow systems. The Gopad river flowing from the top towards the north becomes a part of the Ganga basin by adding more than 20 rivers and streams in its flow system. Hasdo flowing from the top towards the south becomes a part of the Mahanadi basin. The origin of both of these can be seen here. Also, rock paintings can be seen on the slopes here. The Basahawa Tower built by the Forest Department, located about 4 km west of the top of this hill and 1 km from the Master Tower, is also a major tourist attraction.
